I was so intrigued by the embroidery German artist Jans Shwester created using a kitchen sieve as her foundation, that I searched for other examples of this unique idea. I found embellished tea strainers, mesh sieves, and even a plastic colander. Designer Kathleen Ballo, another Jans Shwester fan, posted an how-to on Design Sponge http://www.designsponge.com/2016/10/diy-embroidered-strainer-art.html, where she offers instructions on using a metal colander as the foundation for creative design.
I’m thinking that manufacturers of strainers should include Aida count numbers on their packaging.
