I’m always on the look-out for fascinating uses of embroidery and applique. This particularly intrigued me–embroidery over a kitchen sieve. Jans Shwester is a German artist who described finding this sieve again after it had served a long and useful life as a toy for her son, and had been employed as a garden tool. Her embroidery turned it into something beautiful. The rust adds to its beauty, I think, don’t you? Something once discarded has gained new life.
